COME LITTLE LIGHT come chase the darkness
There had to be something he could do to make it up to her, and it would have to be perfect. James had forgotten the anniversary of his first date with Lily, and it had sparked an argument that he had wanted to avoid. It wasn't as if they argued all the time. No, his relationship with Lily was very congenial and uplifting, most of the time. That's what happened when you were close friends who decided to date. But it didn't mean that everything would be sunshine and roses. He really had to work at this whole boyfriend thing, and sometimes he screwed up. But at least he was smart enough to know when it was time to fix things and apologize.
He had wandered into Flourish and Blotts, trying to find a book that might suit her, but he ended up seeing someone he had never wished to see after graduating from school. Severus Snape. The mere thought of him sent chills of detestation down James's spine and he wanted to take a moment to go vomit in the loo. But here he was in the flesh, and James would either have to pretend he didn't see him, or just hurry with this short errand so he could get the hell out of there without having to speak to the greasy snake. He began to search through the romance shelves faster, until he saw a novel that may or may not have been interesting to Lily. It was something with a flowery front cover, that was what had grabbed his attention. But he didn't really care what it was. At the moment, his top priority was buying and leaving. He went and stood in the line to purchase the book and he suddenly found his fingernails very interesting, purposely not looking in the direction of Snivellus at all.

Severus was casually browsing through Flourish and Blotts when he looked up to see Potter in the store. He was tempted to just sneak out of there before Potter should see him, but then realized that Black wasn't around. Potter generally had only picked on him at school when he had the audience of his best friend with him. Severus smirked slightly, he had a few new spells under his belt since joining the dark lords ranks, but he knew he would have to keep them to himself for now. He could not risk having his loyalties be found out. Part of his usefulness to the dark lord was in his being able to be a spy. But he could still have some fun with Potter.
Severus walked up behind James, looking at the book in his hand. He scoffed slightly, "Little Potter interested in Romance books", he sneered.
(OOC: sorry about the wait mate. Hope this is okay.)

COME LITTLE LIGHT come chase the darkness For the second time this evening, he felt bile rise up in his throat, and he was forced to swallow it and continue standing there with the desire to run prevalent in his mind. He looked up and glared at Severus. All kind thoughts and actions were unnecessary around this cretin. If he'd been less moral, he might have knocked the teeth out of Snape's mouth right then and there and called it a day. But alas, he did have a code that he lived by, and hitting a man who did not hit first was not very virtuous. But, he managed a dark smile and held up the book for Severus to see more clearly.
"What, this?" He responded in a light tone. "This is for Lily. My girlfriend. I believe you know her? Oh wait...she doesn't associate with gutter scum. And in case you were unaware, romance novels are for those actually participating in romance, much like I am...with Lily. Very much romance," he said with a grin. He wouldn't go into detail with Severus, one because he would not desecrate and disrespect his Lily that way, and two because there actually hadn't been very many details. He and Lily had yet to sleep together. He was waiting for the right moment. But he wasn't quite done goading Snape. No, this was much too fun.
"Or perhaps you should get one, Snivelly. You could have a practice run, what would you call it...oh yes, charming the snake," he said as seriously as he could, quite proud of himself that he could come up with a Slytherin euphemism for Severus playing with himself. | WORDS: 277 Waiting is fine with me! No worries. |
